Two defining moments for Willa, 1. Age 11 her tempestuous mother vanished overnight, 2. widowed at 41 when her husband dies in a road rage crash. She gave up her degree when she married him, has 2 sons who she is not close to, pursuing a life to please others. Then, a phone call out of the blue calls her to Baltimore to look after Denise and her daughter Cheryl. She becomes part of the community, is needed, wanted and valued. Don't want to spoil the ending but she makes a decision to change her life. Beautifully, sensitively written and shows it's never to late to change your path in life and make your own choice.
