Harry is a Richard Nixon scholar who leads a quiet, regular life; his brother George is a high-flying TV producer, with a murderous temper. They have been uneasy rivals since childhood. Then one day George loses control so extravagantly that he precipitates Harry into an entirely new life.
This book was a struggle to get through. It is full of action - indeed the first 50 pages of 480 have as much action as any novel but after a while it becomes relentless. Everything has a bizarre quality - it reminded me of a David Lynch film - so many characters - so many zany personalities. Utimately, it is a story of redemption and as such deserves sticking with. But it gave me a headache and it should have been shorter. PW
